The famous door-stop in the shape of a person illustrates the ease with which Philippe Starck, playing around with convention, knows how to describe his subjects, the story of his own desires and his imagination. It was in 1996 that Dédé was born: a sculptural silhouette in die-castaluminium. It was all about giving body and life to one of the many anthropo-zoomorphic characters that populated Starck's poetic imagination, to create an imposing presence in a room. The Dédé door-stop returns to centre stage with a new look: the imposing early aluminium figure is followed by arevisited ultra-colourful version in plastic. Propelled to the rank of icon, it's a real consecration for the character created by Starck in the 90s, which is here the subject of a resolutely pop reinterpretation from the hands of its creator.
